I have the same data Grep started at Thu May 20 18:32:06 GREP_COLOR='01;31' GREP_COLORS='mt=01;31:fn=:ln=:bn=:se=:ml=:cx=:ne' GREP_OPTIONS='--color=auto --color=auto' TERM=emacs-grep but I don't have an "emacs-grep" terminfo entry. $ tput -Temacs-grep longname tput: unknown terminal "emacs-grep" Huh. OK, this is strange. I just tried to reproduce the problem again, and I can't -- matches are highlighted correctly now.
