It seems that the problem is due to metamail-interpret-body. Namely it is able to produce a message without a newline at the end. sincerely --Wlodek D. ------- Start of forwarded message ------- X-Original-To: wlodr@semantix.localdomain From: Wlodek Drabent To: bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org Subject: rmail glues mails Reply-To: wdr@ida.liu.se Date: Sun, 21 Dec 2003 18:20:10 +0100 (CET) This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation, not to your local site managers! Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have translators to read other languages for them. Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing list, and to the gnu.emacs.bug news group. Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug and the precise symptoms of the bug: I noticed that some mails are glued together in my babyl mail files. This is because ^_^L does not appear at the beginning of a line. I am including an example wrong line, followed by the beginning of the next mail. (The original control characters are replaced by visible ones, to avoid problems). gr III^_^L 1,, X-Coding-System: iso-8859-2 Mail-from: From stefmal@poczta.onet.pl Tue Dec 16 20:41:28 2003 Received: from smtp1.poczta.onet.pl (smtp1.poczta.onet.pl [213.180.130.31]) by portofix.ida.liu.se (8.12.10/8.12.10) with ESMTP id hBGJfRs5007868 for ; Tue, 16 Dec 2003 20:41:27 +0100 (MET) The example is taken from a buffer in RMAIL mode (a single letter is displayed, no 'widen' set). Hand editing helps (pressing e and then inserting return, etc) - after re-visiting the file both messages are seen separately. The mail files were obtained by saving mails from file RMAIL using the command o. I do not have time to try reproducing the error. with best regards - --Wlodek Drabent ................................................................
