Resending this bug report. I hope someone who likes to work on the
Texinfo Elisp files will consider it.

Having a separate file including version/date-type information is what
Automake does by default, by the way. And Texinfo itself uses that
feature. So it would be highly desirable to support this.

Thanks,
karl (Texinfo maintainer)

Subject: texinfo-multiple-files-update <-----> include-file without node

Hello,

(I hope this is the right place to report this, if not, please notify me...)

The following situation:

I have the top-.texinfo-file of a manual, include a file with
version-information using @include version.texinfo. Contents of the file are
for example @set version 0.0.2
Now, I want to use texinfo-multiple-files-update (with a positive argument).
But this isn't possible, since texinfo-multiple-files-update expects a node
in every included file (and refuses to work if any file doesn't fit this
requirement).

Does this behaviour make sense? Couldn't texinfo-multiple-files-update just
ignore all files that doesn't contain nodes?
