I'm encountering the following error when opening files or directories:
(wrong type argument stringp nil)
I can reexecute the same command and it works. I've googled around on the net
and haven't found anything relevent (apart from a reference to a similar error
related to comint.el) I've also set the lisp debugger and received the following
traceback:
Debugger entered--Lisp error: (wrong-type-argument stringp nil)

I appreciate any pointers to the solution. Please let me know if there's
more information I should provide.
Thanks in advance

It looks like you're using the obsolete package hilit19, and it looks
like hilit-lookup-face-create needs some maintenance to work with the
rest of the latest Emacs.
I'm not going to work on it myself, but if someone sends a fix,
I can install it.
I recommend using Font Lock mode instead of hilit19.

Thank you. I was evidently loading it in default.el (an old setup from 19.30).
I've changed the load to font-lock and it's working cleanly now.
Thank you,
Arnold
