It would be nice if {previous,next}-matching-history-element would
behave in the same way as searching through history in readline 
(C-r and C-s for libreadline based applications). 
IE it would be nice if the search was incremental, with matches shown
in the minibuffer as soon as they happen.

Unfortunately my free hacking time is very limited these days.  :-(
I just hope somebody else will step up and do it...
