Hello,

I am trying to use GNU Emacs (either 21.4 and 22.0.50) on GNU but it fails
whenever it is launched into X.

If I pass -nw switch, no problem, it works.

If I do not add -nw, it enters (or seem to do so) into an infinite loop and
never shows up. I always have to kill the process id.

Running it under gdb didn't give more informations but running it into a xterm
leads to a segfault.

I really do not know how I can investigate this failure.

Do you have hints to help me investigate a little more ?

Thank you.

Xavier

Since lots of people successfully run Emacs 21, and the development
version which will be Emacs 22, with X on GNU/Linux, the problem
must be due to something in your GNU/Hurd system. So I suggest you
talk with the people who maintain the distro you use.

That is not true. Emacs21 is known to be totally unusable under X on GNU. But
I do agree that there is something that should be broken on GNU and X.

Thank you Richard.
