Subject: bug#24587: 24.5; `dired-do-rename-regexp' does not support `query-replace-regexp' TO syntax
Date: Sun, 2 Oct 2016 09:50:02 -0700 (PDT) [thread overview]
Message-ID: <10a7e293-31e3-4c7a-876d-88b068370501@default> (raw)
The doc string of `dired-do-rename-regexp' says this, about the
replacement pattern:
NEWNAME may contain \\=\\<n> or \\& as in `query-replace-regexp'.
It does not say that it also supports the other syntax constructs that
`query-replace-regexp' supports for the replacement pattern, so this is
not a bug report per se, but rather an enhancement request.
Please enable `dired-do-rename-regexp' to fully support the replacement
patterns that `query-replace-regexp' supports.
